Catch - Up 2018

Things have been very busy at Resolution Vineyard, the growing season is well under way and the grapes are starting to come to life. Everyone involved in the running of the vineyard has been busy keeping up with the rapid growth.

Christmas was a fantastic time to catch up with our Sunny Banks Road family and reflect on the year.

The Resolution Vineyard Pinot Noir has once again proven its style with 2017 Vintage taking home a Bronze Medal at the 2019 Tasmanian Wine Show, judged by Huon Hooke, Anthony Rose and Courtney Treacher.  A great result made possible by our fabulous family and friends, Thank You xxx

The 2018 Vintage is almost ready for bottling, so stay tuned for release date.

Royal Hobart Wine Show- Bronze!

Resolution Vineyard are excited to win a Bronze medal at the Royal Hobart Wine Show held in August. This show was first held in 1974 and receives entries from all over Australia.

We entered the Resolution Vineyard 2017 Pinot Noir which has followed in the footsteps of the 2016 vintage which also won bronze medal at the Tasmanian Wine Show in January 2018.

We were very pleased with the result, coming in as the second best bronze and the best Tasmanian bronze.  Showcasing its terroir, a cool climate southern location at Middleton.

Out of 87 entries we were the 9th Tasmanian Pinot Noir and 19th overall.

Thank you to our family and friends who helped with the 2017 vintage, including Peter and Helen who gave this vintage a head start.  This wine would not exist without the expertise of wine maker Alain Rousseau and the team at Frogmore Creek, Thank You.

Congratulation to all medal winners and a special mention to Bream Creek for winning Best Tasmanian Red Wine and Best Tasmanian Wine (2017 Bream Creek Pinot Noir).

The prestigious RAST Trophy - Best Pinot Noir is the major award, this year won by Hardy’s 2017 HRB Pinot Noir which also won Best Red Wine in Show and Best Wine in Show.

The rest is over, let's prune!

Waking up to winter mornings like this at Resolution Vineyard is energising for the work day ahead.

So we have had our rest after Harvest;

Waited for the leaves to fall;

Settled back into full time work;

Fixed up more of the fencing to keep the wallaby's out and the children in;

Picked and ordered a wood heater to warm our bones (can't wait to actually get it installed!);

And we are now halfway into pruning for 2018 thanks to our main supporters.  The thinning out process has been completed and it's now time to tie down and tidy up.

Even the littlest family member is keeping an eagle eye on the workers and the fairy wrens, which doubles as good practice for learning to walk.

Harvest Family 2018

Harvest day has come and gone for 2018 and it was splendid with gorgeous weather, a fine bunch of pickers and lots of little pickers in the making..

This day would not happen without the assistance and support of everyone who volunteered their time to  remove nets, pick grapes, collect buckets, fill bins and bake fresh scones (scones are very important on picking day).. We are forever grateful, thank you!

Now we wait patiently whilst magic happens in the barrels.

Harvest day, best spent with good friends and family.

A fabulous Open Wine Weekend 2018

Open Wine weekend has come to an end for 2018. The weather was magnificent, the company exceptional and the feedback on the 2017 Pinot Noir very positive for such a young wine.

It was lovely to see familiar faces from last year and to also meet a number of new friends visiting for the first time. If you didn’t make it down the channel this year make sure you put it in your calendar for the 1st weekend in March 2018. Red Sails just over the road also had beautiful ciders and even newly released 2013 Pinot for tasting and sales.

We also managed to get the nets on and secured over Sunday and Monday with the amazing help of our family. The birds won't be happy.

Thank you to everyone who made it down to enjoy the wine, views and Grandma's cooking. We would love to see you again next year. Cheers.

Resolution Vineyards 2016 Pinot Noir has received a Bronze medal at the 28th Tasmanian Wine Show held in Launceston 15-19th January 2018.

This medal is a reflection of the hard work, dedication and commitment of Peter and family over the past 14 years.  Peter’s high standards and nurturing of the vines at Resolution Vineyard has once again produced an award winning Pinot Noir.  At Christmas 2016 Peter and his family tasted this batch straight from the barrel and agreed it had great potential, a statement now proven with a bronze medal.

Thank you also to the expert wine making skills of Alain Rousseau and the team at Frogmore Creek for helping to create a much loved wine.

This is a fantastic way to celebrate the changing of the guard for Peter and his family. Congratulations!!

The 2016 Vintage won’t last long so grab yours today.

Congratulations to Home Hill who received the top award for Best Pinot Noir 2016- Home Hill Estate Pinot Noir.

Middleton Fair

The Middleton Fair last weekend was a fantastic family day out with lots to see, do, eat and drink. We hope everyone who made it down for the day enjoyed it as much as we did.

Pinot Peter may not have been awarded a people's choice award medal at the but he's a winner to us.  He bought family and friends together for a day of rainy fun in the shed, designing, head scratching problem solving, decorating, drilling and laughing.  Peter visited the vineyard last week so we snapped a picture of them together. As described by Peter himself, there is a 'striking resemblance'!

The standard and design of the Scarecrows adorning the Channel Highway from Woodbridge to Gordon are outstanding.  The Scarecrows are still up for about another week.  Don't miss out, jump in the car and go and explore this piece of paradise right on your doorstep!

Pinot Peter

Pinot Peter has made his debut on the Channel Highway opposite the road to Resolution Vineyard- Sunny Banks Road, Middleton. So far he is very happy there and has already had admirers stop for an quick photo and autograph.
Pinot Peter has been hard at work crushing the Resolution Pinot grapes with his bare feet, having a lot of fun but making quite a mess of it.
Pinot Peter was inspired by our friend and mentor Peter Brown who founded Resolution Vineyard. For those who know Peter you may see a striking resemblance!
A massive Thank you to our family and friends for coming down and helping us create Pinot Peter and to Doug, Peta and Ron for helping us put him up, it was fabulous fun.
Vote 1 Pinot Peter !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome 2018

So 2018 is well underway at Resolution Vineyard and we hope everyone had a happy and relaxed Christmas and New Year.

We finished up 2017 with a short getaway across the Channel to Bruny Island and celebrated our first Christmas at Resolution Vineyard commencing with the annual Middleton Fire Brigade lolly run, some cookie cooking, tree gathering and decorating and Christmas lunch with our loved ones on the lawn. It was a glorious day.

Now that 2018 is here we are back to focus on the crop growing before us, it's looking great.

Thomas: "It's like a Jingle Jangle Jungle Mum!!"

It has been two weeks since our last News Update and Thomas now describes the vineyard as a Jingle Jangle Jungle! He's three (3).

The growth is happening before our eyes.

We have been busy tucking the vines in between the wires that run down each row.  Luckily we tucked into the first row last week.  As you can see from the pictures below they are out of control if not reigned in as they grow.

The green growth is like a big blanket over the whole hectare now.

More jobs to come over the following months and it's nearly Christmas!

Rows to be tucked into the wires

It is all go at Resolution Vineyard

It's a fabulous sight at Resolution Vineyard after just 5 weeks.

The vineyard has changed from a blanket of brown twigs to a blanket of new green growth. It is exciting to watch the vines grow.

We have been busy tucking the vines into their first wires, brush cutting, mowing the lawns, admiring the view from the slide and enjoying the weather!

Even our Olive trees are looking promising for a crop this year.  I admit we know little about olives, olive trees or their potential.  However, that is another exciting curve for which we have commenced crawling up.

Below are two pictures comparing now to 5 weeks ago when the buds were starting to burst.

Time to awaken

The vines have started to wake, albeit slowly.

A cool start to Spring has resulted in the buds happily staying cool and snug.  But finally the buds have began to open with budburst occurring over the past week.

This is an exciting time for us, as we anxiously wait to see how the grapes will develop over the coming months.  Hopefully our new fencing and clearing over winter has alleviated the wallaby destruction of the past, resulting in a bumper crop. We will see......

Pruning is now complete!!

Our first attempt at Pruning is complete!! Daniel, Doug and Ellen worked tirelessly at different times over a number of weeks to finish the 26 rows. Along with their support crew, it was all finished in time for Spring to arrive.

Starting off as beginners under instruction from our mentor Peter, it is fair to say everyone has advanced their technique and skill set to the next level.

A fantastic effort by everyone for the first of many pruning's.

Pruning is under way

After thorough instruction from Peter and some fine tuning, our first attempt at pruning is now well underway.  The weather has been relatively kind so far making the days very productive.

Thanks to the dedication and help of our amazing family and friends we are just over half way through and starting to see the results of our hard work.

There is still a lot to do and we are chipping away when we can.  It will be a satisfying achievement once completed.

Harvest 2017

Tuesday was Harvest Day at Resolution Vineyard.

This day would not be possible without the amazing dedicated and selfless hard work of everyone who came to pick with us. We Thank You!!!

The weather was on and off all morning with showers then sun. It slowly deteriorated after lunch with a drop in temperature and a few good showers resulting in some cold hands and soggy socks.  But the troops soldiered on til every last grape was picked. We delivered 4 bins to our fabulous winemaker Alain, who was kind enough to return to work to accept the crop after close of business, this was much appreciated.

The result was a larger harvest and a longer day than expected, but overall it was a fabulous day with fabulous company and some good tucker to keep everyone ticking.

Thank you again. Now we wait for the magic to happen.......

Harvest 2017 is approaching!

The nets have been on for 6 weeks now and the grapes have been ripening. Slowly.

We have received instruction from our fabulous winemaker that next week the grapes will be at the optimum ripeness for harvesting. So next Tuesday it is.

We are looking forward to the next step in the process.....
