Middleton Country Fair is back after a gap year due to the 2019 bush fires. It will be on Saturday 1st February 2020.
It includes a Scarecrow competition,voted by the people on Fair day. The drive down the Channel from Kettering to Verona Sands is FUN with all the scarecrows along the way! The Scarecrows are up between 26 Jan - 26 February and they are magnificent.
This year our littlest people decided Pinot Peppa Pig was our next creation and what a beauty she turned out to be. Pinot Peppa is very happy in her new home, who wouldn't be swinging all day! Check her out hanging around on the Channel Highway opposite Sunny Banks Road Middleton!!
Vote 1- Pinot Peppa!!!
So we picked ourselves up after the disappointment of loosing our bumper 2019 crop to smoke taint.
We oiled up the shears and got to pruning over a number of weeks, ready for the growing season ahead.
Look out 2020, here we come again!
This weekend we will be harvesting our 2019 Pinot Noir grapes. But sadly, they won't be produced into another gorgeous wine for you to enjoy, due to smoke taint from the wretched recent bush fires.
We have netted a small section of grapes that will be experimented with.
We always have an small army of family and friends to complete the harvest process for which we are very grateful. We still have to remove the bunches so if you would like to help this Saturday please send us a message. Cheers!

The Middleton Country Fair was cancelled on the weekend, but all of the Scarecrows are up including our very own Pinot Poppins. She along with her scarecrow mates will be up until the end of February, head down the Channel Highway from Kettering and take a look!!
Pinot Poppins is opposite Sunny Banks Road, Middleton.
Pinot Poppins created by the ever so clever Gibbons Dooley clan xxxx
Things have been very busy at Resolution Vineyard, the growing season is well under way and the grapes are starting to come to life. Everyone involved in the running of the vineyard has been busy keeping up with the rapid growth.
Christmas was a fantastic time to catch up with our Sunny Banks Road family and reflect on the year.
The Resolution Vineyard Pinot Noir has once again proven its style with 2017 Vintage taking home a Bronze Medal at the 2019 Tasmanian Wine Show, judged by Huon Hooke, Anthony Rose and Courtney Treacher. A great result made possible by our fabulous family and friends, Thank You xxx
The 2018 Vintage is almost ready for bottling, so stay tuned for release date.
Resolution Vineyard are excited to win a Bronze medal at the Royal Hobart Wine Show held in August. This show was first held in 1974 and receives entries from all over Australia.
We entered the Resolution Vineyard 2017 Pinot Noir which has followed in the footsteps of the 2016 vintage which also won bronze medal at the Tasmanian Wine Show in January 2018.
We were very pleased with the result, coming in as the second best bronze and the best Tasmanian bronze. Showcasing its terroir, a cool climate southern location at Middleton.
Out of 87 entries we were the 9th Tasmanian Pinot Noir and 19th overall.
Thank you to our family and friends who helped with the 2017 vintage, including Peter and Helen who gave this vintage a head start. This wine would not exist without the expertise of wine maker Alain Rousseau and the team at Frogmore Creek, Thank You.
Congratulation to all medal winners and a special mention to Bream Creek for winning Best Tasmanian Red Wine and Best Tasmanian Wine (2017 Bream Creek Pinot Noir).
The prestigious RAST Trophy - Best Pinot Noir is the major award, this year won by Hardy’s 2017 HRB Pinot Noir which also won Best Red Wine in Show and Best Wine in Show.

Waking up to winter mornings like this at Resolution Vineyard is energising for the work day ahead.
So we have had our rest after Harvest;
Waited for the leaves to fall;
Settled back into full time work;
Fixed up more of the fencing to keep the wallaby's out and the children in;
Picked and ordered a wood heater to warm our bones (can't wait to actually get it installed!);
And we are now halfway into pruning for 2018 thanks to our main supporters. The thinning out process has been completed and it's now time to tie down and tidy up.
Even the littlest family member is keeping an eagle eye on the workers and the fairy wrens, which doubles as good practice for learning to walk.
Harvest day has come and gone for 2018 and it was splendid with gorgeous weather, a fine bunch of pickers and lots of little pickers in the making..
This day would not happen without the assistance and support of everyone who volunteered their time to remove nets, pick grapes, collect buckets, fill bins and bake fresh scones (scones are very important on picking day).. We are forever grateful, thank you!
Now we wait patiently whilst magic happens in the barrels.
Harvest day, best spent with good friends and family.
The boys are busy preparing things for our first full harvest tomorrow. Weather is a lovely crisp 13° today, looking slightly warmer tomorrow and fine.
Harvest for 2018 is fast approaching at Resolution Vineyard.
The nets went on after the Open Wine Weekend and we are getting closer to our first full harvest.
Fingers crossed for great weather!
Open Wine weekend has come to an end for 2018. The weather was magnificent, the company exceptional and the feedback on the 2017 Pinot Noir very positive for such a young wine.
It was lovely to see familiar faces from last year and to also meet a number of new friends visiting for the first time. If you didn’t make it down the channel this year make sure you put it in your calendar for the 1st weekend in March 2018. Red Sails just over the road also had beautiful ciders and even newly released 2013 Pinot for tasting and sales.
We also managed to get the nets on and secured over Sunday and Monday with the amazing help of our family. The birds won't be happy.
Thank you to everyone who made it down to enjoy the wine, views and Grandma's cooking. We would love to see you again next year. Cheers.
Come to Resolution Vineyard this weekend! Our doors will be open Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th March, between 10am-4pm as part of the 2018 Southern and Eastern Tasmanian Vineyards Open Weekend. Middleton is only 9 minutes past Woodbridge/Peppermint Bay Restaurant. Just look for Pinot Peter and turn right!
The award winning 2016 Resolution Vineyard Pinot Noir and just released this week 2017 Pinot Noir will both be available for tasting and purchasing via cash sales or direct bank transfer. There may even be the odd extra treat or two if you come when the ovens hot!
We also have ample space if you would like to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the deck or the lawn overlooking the picturesque D'Entrecasteaux Channel.
There was a guide in the last Sunday Tasmanian listing all those taking part. Just across the road from us you can visit Clive and Lynne at Red Sails Cider. Or back at Margate Nandroya Vineyard, Windrush at Kingston, Hartzview Vineyard at Gardners Bay and on the other side of the Huon there is Two Bud Spur, Chatto, Pagan Cider, Franks Cider House, Kate Hill Wines and Willie Smiths.
Resolution Vineyards 2016 Pinot Noir has received a Bronze medal at the 28th Tasmanian Wine Show held in Launceston 15-19th January 2018.
This medal is a reflection of the hard work, dedication and commitment of Peter and family over the past 14 years. Peter’s high standards and nurturing of the vines at Resolution Vineyard has once again produced an award winning Pinot Noir. At Christmas 2016 Peter and his family tasted this batch straight from the barrel and agreed it had great potential, a statement now proven with a bronze medal.
Thank you also to the expert wine making skills of Alain Rousseau and the team at Frogmore Creek for helping to create a much loved wine.
This is a fantastic way to celebrate the changing of the guard for Peter and his family. Congratulations!!
The 2016 Vintage won’t last long so grab yours today.
Congratulations to Home Hill who received the top award for Best Pinot Noir 2016- Home Hill Estate Pinot Noir.

The Middleton Fair last weekend was a fantastic family day out with lots to see, do, eat and drink. We hope everyone who made it down for the day enjoyed it as much as we did.
Pinot Peter may not have been awarded a people's choice award medal at the but he's a winner to us. He bought family and friends together for a day of rainy fun in the shed, designing, head scratching problem solving, decorating, drilling and laughing. Peter visited the vineyard last week so we snapped a picture of them together. As described by Peter himself, there is a 'striking resemblance'!
The standard and design of the Scarecrows adorning the Channel Highway from Woodbridge to Gordon are outstanding. The Scarecrows are still up for about another week. Don't miss out, jump in the car and go and explore this piece of paradise right on your doorstep!

So 2018 is well underway at Resolution Vineyard and we hope everyone had a happy and relaxed Christmas and New Year.
We finished up 2017 with a short getaway across the Channel to Bruny Island and celebrated our first Christmas at Resolution Vineyard commencing with the annual Middleton Fire Brigade lolly run, some cookie cooking, tree gathering and decorating and Christmas lunch with our loved ones on the lawn. It was a glorious day.
Now that 2018 is here we are back to focus on the crop growing before us, it's looking great.
It has been two weeks since our last News Update and Thomas now describes the vineyard as a Jingle Jangle Jungle! He's three (3).
The growth is happening before our eyes.
We have been busy tucking the vines in between the wires that run down each row. Luckily we tucked into the first row last week. As you can see from the pictures below they are out of control if not reigned in as they grow.
The green growth is like a big blanket over the whole hectare now.
More jobs to come over the following months and it's nearly Christmas!
